CashBlack A.F.R.O.B.O.T Browser Extension Policy
A.F.R.O.B.O.T is a browser extension that finds Black-owned alternatives to the things you are already shopping for, and activates your cashback when you choose one.
This page describes what it does, what it reads, what leaves your browser and where it does nothing at all. By installing it you agree to our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

What It Does
When you search for something, or look at a product on a shop's website, the extension asks CashBlack whether we know of a Black-owned brand selling something similar. If we do, it shows you those products in a panel beside what you were already looking at. If a brand you searched for is already in your own results, it marks that result where it sits.
Nothing on the page you are reading is changed. No link of theirs is rewritten, no price is altered and no result is reordered or hidden.
It Never Redirects You
A cashback link is added only when you click one of our buttons, and the panel says so in plain words above the results before you click anything.
The extension does not redirect you automatically, does not follow you to a shop you were going to anyway, does not replace anybody's affiliate link with ours and does not set a cashback cookie in the background. That last practice has a name, cookie stuffing, and it is forbidden by the Chrome Web Store and by us.
What It Reads, And What Leaves Your Browser
On a search page it reads your search term. On a product page it reads the product's title. That is the whole of it.
What leaves your browser is that one piece of text, plus which country's CashBlack you are using and which version of the extension you are running. Nothing else. Not the address of the page you are on, not its content, not its prices, not your name and not your email address.
We do not build a picture of how you shop, and there is no such record to sell, share or lose. The search is anonymous: the same search gives the same answer to everybody, and it carries no account and no identifier.
Where It Never Runs
The extension is allowed to work on any website, because a Black-owned alternative to something can be found wherever you happen to be looking at it, and limiting it to a list of large retailers would leave out exactly the independent shops where Black-owned brands sell.
That permission is worth something only alongside what it refuses. The extension does nothing at all, and reads nothing at all, on banking and payment sites, health sites, government sites and webmail. It does the same on any page whose address says it is your own account, your basket, your checkout or a sign-in form, on any website.
The list is written into the extension itself, with a reason recorded against every entry, and it is enforced by the part of the extension that runs on the page rather than only by its settings. That means it holds however the extension was built.
What Is Stored, And Where
On your own device: the brands you have come across through the extension, so it can tell you when one is new to you, and whether you are signed in. You can clear both from the extension's own window at any time, and removing the extension removes them with it.
On our servers: if you sign in, a record that you did. When you click through to a shop we record the click, because that is how cashback is claimed and paid to you. We do not record the searches you made.
No Analytics And No Advertising
The extension contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking code of any kind. Nobody but CashBlack receives anything from it, and CashBlack receives only what is described above.
It loads nothing from a third party while you browse, including fonts and images, so no other company learns which pages you visit by way of us.
Signing In
You can use the extension without an account. It will still show you Black-owned alternatives, and it will tell you plainly that you need an account to earn cashback rather than implying you are earning it.
If you do sign in, the extension holds a token that identifies you to CashBlack. It is stored by your browser, it is never sent to anybody but CashBlack, and signing out from the extension's window removes it from your device.
Removing It
Remove the extension through your browser's own extensions page. Everything it stored on your device goes with it. To close your CashBlack account as well, see our Privacy Policy for how to ask.

The extension is published by Cashblack Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 12785292, whose registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ.
Cashblack Ltd is the data controller for what is described on this page. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are answerable to you for it.
Email support@cashblack.com to ask a question about this page, to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to us using it. We will answer within one month. If you think we have got something wrong, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, and you can do that without coming to us first.
Cookies
We do not use cookies to personalise ads, to provide social media features or to analyse traffic, and we have no advertising, social media or analytics partners to share anything with. The cookies this website sets are listed in our Cookies Policy: the ones that keep you signed in and protect our forms, the one that records your cookie-banner choice, and the referral cookie if you arrive through a member's link.
Changes To This Page
If we change what the extension reads, what leaves your browser or where it runs, we change this page in the same release. A claim on this page that the extension no longer honours is a bug, and you can report it the way you would report any other.
